Full product details

Move between rough shaping and finer work with four profiles in a fixed mix of grades. The Very Coarse Flame establishes curves, the Coarse Taper and Ball Nose shape contours and hollows, and the Fine Sphere refines rounded recesses. This 1/4″ shaft woodcarving kit pairs with a compatible die grinder or flex-shaft handpiece.

Made in the USA, the structured tungsten-carbide teeth are brazed to steel for controlled material removal. Carve with or across the grain, using light pressure as you approach the finished shape.

Works with

  • Wood
  • Plastic
  • Drywall
  • Rubber
  • Fiberglass
  • Soft stone

Not for use on

Metals, ceramics or hard stone.

Mounting Guide

Kutzall burr shafts seated in rotary-tool collets
Match the shaft to your tool’s collet or chuck.
  1. Match your shaft size

Use a 1/4″ collet or compatible adjustable chuck on a suitable rotary tool, die grinder or flex-shaft handpiece. Hand drills and drill presses are not recommended.

  2. Seat the shaft securely

Insert at least half of the shaft into the collet or chuck. Secure it according to your power tool’s instructions.

  3. Use the recommended speed

Recommended operating range: 15,000–30,000 RPM. Both material-removal rate and control improve as speed increases toward the burr’s recommended operating range. Never exceed the lowest maximum speed rating in your setup. Use light pressure and let the tool do the work.

  4. Let it stop completely

Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Caring for your Kutzall

Cleaning a Kutzall hand rasp with a wire brush
Brush away buildup

A few passes with a soft wire brush help clear material from between the teeth.

Using a torch to clear buildup from a Kutzall shaping wheel
Clear stubborn residue

For stubborn wood residue only, follow the torch-cleaning steps in our care guide. Let heated metal cool naturally before handling.

Protect the teeth

Kutzall’s tungsten-carbide teeth are securely brazed to the steel tool with a nickel alloy. Protect the teeth from impact against hard surfaces, especially while spinning. Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Not for use on metals, ceramics or hard stone.

    Versatile Combo Kit

Happy with the 1/4" shaft kit choices between aggressive and fine coatings and shapes. Hoggin' out material with the extreme flame burr to finishing up with the fine sphere bit, most fix-it or crafting projects can use any of these kit bits. Happier with the kit cost value vs. individual bit prices. Super happy with the generous discount on the Kutzall website and free shipping. Made in the USA, baby! Keep up the good work!

    Great product

Love these for cleaning out the inside of gourds with narrow openings. I wish they came with elongated shafts though.
