Meet the shapes in your kit

Each profile gives you a different way to shape, hollow or refine your work.

  • Sphere

    1″ × 1″

Shape rounded recesses, inside curves + hollows.

  • Flame

    1/2″ × 1″

Blend flowing curves into narrow grooves + details.

Full product details

Refine larger woodcarving forms with three Fine-grade burrs for a compatible die grinder or flex-shaft handpiece. The Sphere, Flame and Ball Nose offer complementary ways to shape hollows, blend curves and round edges. Their larger carving heads and Fine teeth suit gradual shaping and a finer finish.

Made in the USA, the structured tungsten-carbide teeth are brazed to steel for controlled material removal. Carve with or across the grain, using light pressure as you approach the finished shape.

Works with

  • Wood
  • Plastic

Mounting Guide

Kutzall burr shafts seated in rotary-tool collets
Match the shaft to your tool’s collet or chuck.
  1. Match your shaft size

Use a 1/4″ collet or compatible adjustable chuck on a suitable rotary tool, die grinder or flex-shaft handpiece. Hand drills and drill presses are not recommended.

  2. Seat the shaft securely

Insert at least half of the shaft into the collet or chuck. Secure it according to your power tool’s instructions.

  3. Use the recommended speed

Recommended operating range: 15,000–30,000 RPM. Both material-removal rate and control improve as speed increases toward the burr’s recommended operating range. Never exceed the lowest maximum speed rating in your setup. Use light pressure and let the tool do the work.

  4. Let it stop completely

Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Caring for your Kutzall

Brush away buildup

A few passes with a soft wire brush help clear material from between the teeth.

Using a torch to clear buildup from a Kutzall shaping wheel
Clear stubborn residue

For stubborn wood residue only, follow the torch-cleaning steps in our care guide. Let heated metal cool naturally before handling.

Protect the teeth

Kutzall’s tungsten-carbide teeth are securely brazed to the steel tool with a nickel alloy. Protect the teeth from impact against hard surfaces, especially while spinning. Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Not for use on metals, ceramics or hard stone.

    Works as advertised

Hard to imagine carving and doing a lot of the little detailed work on a variety of woodcraft scenes and carbs without these particular bits. I’m able to sculpt out a wide area and then narrow it down as I need. The clean easily using a wire brush. Make sure that you dry them. I use a hair dryer. To avoid any rust and then be careful because they are sharp, and if you have any type of a blister, they will puncture it. And always remember safety first when working with these vets. Good eyewear, good gloves, and a mask.
