Good control starts with a good fit.

FLANGE. WHEEL. NUT.
Before mounting, disconnect the grinder from its power source. Follow the grinder and wheel instructions for installation and tightening.
Fit the correct bottom flange with its raised shoulder toward the wheel. This shoulder centers the wheel; use the Imperial or Metric hardware listed below.

Explore Shaping WheelsFit the top nut with its recessed face toward the wheel. With a reversible spanner nut, the projecting shoulder faces away so the nut can clamp the hub.

MATCH THE CONNECTION
A 5/8″ shaft does not mean a 5/8″ wheel bore.Kutzall Shaping Wheels have a 7/8″ center hole that seats over the raised shoulder of the correct mounting flange, not directly over the shaft. The flange centers the wheel; the shaft thread determines which nut you need.
The Universal Hex Nut uses a 21 mm wrench in both sizes. That hex-head size is separate from the 5/8-11 or M14 thread.
COMPLETE YOUR SETUP
Your grinder’s original compatible hardware may already be all you need. These accessories offer replacements or easier access when changing wheels.

Flange, hex nut and offset wrench together. For M14, choose the Metric nut and flange separately.

Supports and centers the wheel. Choose the center size that matches your grinder shaft.

A 21 mm hex head provides an alternative to the standard two-pin spanner nut.

The offset shape reaches the hex nut while helping prevent the wrench from contacting the wheel’s teeth.
SOLVE THE FIT
Check the parts list for your exact grinder model on the manufacturer’s website. A correctly matched replacement flange may be available. The Universal Flange is another option for compatible grinders; choose the Standard or Metric center size.
Some older grinders have these smaller shafts and a flange shoulder for a 5/8-inch accessory opening. A suitable adapter may allow conversion to a 5/8-11 nut and flange set with a 7/8-inch shoulder. Compatibility is model-specific: confirm the adapter, hardware and guard arrangement with the manufacturer before use.
No. Match the nut thread and flange center to your grinder, then check the wheel diameter, speed rating and guard clearance. The Standard mounting kit is for 5/8-11 shafts; M14 setups use the Metric nut and flange.
Keep the grinder disconnected and check the flange size, wheel seating and nut orientation. Do not run a wheel that is not securely seated or that contacts the guard. Confirm the correct setup using the grinder’s instructions or contact Kutzall for help.
