Full product details

Explore five profiles and all three burr grades in one woodcarving kit. The Very Coarse Flame and Rotor Saw handle rough shaping and grooves; the Coarse Taper and Ball Nose develop contours and hollows; the Fine Sphere refines rounded recesses. Each shape has a fixed grade, giving you a varied set for different stages of power carving.

Made in the USA, the structured tungsten-carbide teeth are brazed to steel for controlled material removal. Carve with or across the grain, using light pressure as you approach the finished shape.

Mounting Guide

Kutzall burr shafts seated in rotary-tool collets
Match the shaft to your tool’s collet or chuck.
  1. Match your shaft size

Use a 1/8″ collet or compatible adjustable chuck on a suitable rotary tool, die grinder or flex-shaft handpiece. Hand drills and drill presses are not recommended.

  2. Seat the shaft securely

Insert at least half of the shaft into the collet or chuck. Secure it according to your power tool’s instructions.

  3. Use the recommended speed

Recommended operating range: 15,000–30,000 RPM. Both material-removal rate and control improve as speed increases toward the burr’s recommended operating range. Never exceed the lowest maximum speed rating in your setup. Use light pressure and let the tool do the work.

  4. Let it stop completely

Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Caring for your Kutzall

Cleaning a Kutzall hand rasp with a wire brush
Brush away buildup

A few passes with a soft wire brush help clear material from between the teeth.

Using a torch to clear buildup from a Kutzall shaping wheel
Clear stubborn residue

For stubborn wood residue only, follow the torch-cleaning steps in our care guide. Let heated metal cool naturally before handling.

Protect the teeth

Kutzall’s tungsten-carbide teeth are securely brazed to the steel tool with a nickel alloy. Protect the teeth from impact against hard surfaces, especially while spinning. Let your power tool stop completely before setting it down.

Not for use on metals, ceramics or hard stone.

More on tool care

Let the tool cool before handling. Keep heat away from handles and other non-metal components.

    Adding to the toolbox

As I learn how to carve I have been purchasing less expensive burrs from Temu and Amazon trying not to spend too much money on supplies. Having quality product like these make the job so much more enjoyable that spending for lower quality just does not make sense when you switch between burrs and actually comparing the ease of cuts and the better finish on each.
