F1 filters are disposable. Follow RZ’s care instructions for the reusable mask shell.
When to replace your filter
RZ gives these general usage ranges:
- Heavy dust exposure
- 20–30 hours
- Light dust exposure
- 30–40 hours
- Allergens + odors
- 50–60 hours
Exposure, time worn and breathing rate affect filter life. These ranges are estimates. Replace a dirty filter sooner and follow RZ’s instructions.
How to change the filter
- Turn the inner valve pieces counterclockwise and remove the used filter.
- Position the new, matching-size filter between the valve pieces.
- Turn the valve pieces clockwise to secure them. Check the fit before use.
What’s inside an F1 filter?
A particulate layer works with an active-carbon layer. This is RZ’s standard F1 filter, supplied with the M2 mask.
RZ reports 99.9% efficiency in laboratory particulate testing down to 0.1 micron. Filter test results do not establish a complete-mask protection rating.

My latest purchase was the RZ Mask in black. I have really enjoyed using the mask. It is very efficient at cutting down on the sanding dust. Easy to fit to my face even with a full beard. I believe it was a great investment.

This mask gives me the flexibility to be able to talk without being muffled while live-streaming and coupled with a good dust collection system, it puts alot less stress on the face than a cup filter type breathing apparatus.
Very happy with it. Plus I get to look like a ninja! Who wouldn’t want to 😀
