Hollow + refine
Hollow bowls, cups and ladles. Refine spoon bowls, rims and interior profiles, including deeper or narrower vessels. Check symmetry and wall thickness as the shape develops.
Kutzall applications
Made by you. Used every day.
Turn a rough blank into a bowl, spoon or serving board with a character all its own. Hollow, shape and refine with Kutzall, then bring the piece to life with your finishing touches.
Choose by task
Start with the project you have in mind. Then check that the shaft or mounting adapter fits your power tool.
1/8″ shaft · Small rotary tools
Start with the 3/8-inch Sphere head for small rounded hollows and spoon bowls. Match the head size to the hollow you want to create.
1/8″ shafts · Small rotary tools
Five profiles for handles, grooves, hollows and accents. A useful choice when you want to explore more than one shape.
1/4″ shaft · Compatible die grinders
Use the 1-inch Sphere head to hollow and blend larger concave forms. Requires a tool that accepts a 1/4-inch shaft.
1/4″ shaft adapter included
Shape broader concave surfaces and rounded transitions. Other supported mounting setups need the appropriate adapter, sold separately.
The shaft fits your power tool; the head does the carving. Match the shaft to your collet or chuck, and choose a head size that suits the space you want to shape. Check the tool and accessory speed limits before use.

From rough blanks to refined forms
Hollow bowls, cups and ladles. Refine spoon bowls, rims and interior profiles, including deeper or narrower vessels. Check symmetry and wall thickness as the shape develops.
Carve juice grooves and handholds in cutting boards, blend spoon-handle transitions, and shape serving platters and trays. Refine inside curves and corners for a comfortable feel.
Remove bulk material efficiently before hand finishing. Faster roughing can reduce repetitive hand work on larger pieces or batches, leaving more time for the details that make each piece your own.
Closer to the craft
A shaped handle. A carved accent. Small decisions give a familiar object a personality of its own.
Shape. Refine. Finish.
Work from the broad form toward smaller details. Secure the blank, follow the grain and control the depth of each pass. Adjust your approach to reach interior surfaces and shape comfortable handles, checking symmetry and wall thickness as you go.
Power carving complements hand tools. Refine rims, lips, handles and surfaces with knives, gouges, scrapers, Hand Rasps and sanding. Choose the final smoothness and finish for the intended use, especially for kitchenware and other food-contact pieces.
For a small rounded hollow, start by considering the 3/8-inch Sphere Burr with a 1/8-inch shaft. Choose a head size that suits your spoon bowl and a shaft that fits your power tool. The Variety Kit adds other profiles for handles and details.
The larger featured Sphere Burr has a 1-inch head and a 1/4-inch shaft. The smaller one has a 3/8-inch head and a 1/8-inch shaft. Both suit concave shapes; choose by the scale of your project and your tool’s collet or chuck.
The 2-inch Contour Wheel includes a 1/4-inch shaft adapter for a compatible collet or chuck. Other supported mounting setups require the appropriate adapter. Check the product’s fitment information and the power tool and accessory instructions, including speed limits.
Power carving helps establish the shape and remove material. You can then refine the piece with knives, gouges, scrapers and sanding, depending on the surface and finish you want.
Yes. Rounded burrs suit concave areas, while different burr profiles and Contour Wheels help shape curves, handles and details. For food-contact pieces, choose suitable wood and a finish intended for that use, and follow the finish manufacturer’s directions. Carving alone does not make a piece ready for food contact.
Kutzall tools can shape green or seasoned wood, including hardwoods and softwoods. Their open tooth spacing helps resist loading, including in green or oily woods. Match the profile and grade to the task, test on an offcut, and clean the tool as needed. Dense or figured grain still calls for light passes and frequent checks.
