What is Power Carving?

Power carving uses high-speed rotary tools to shape, sculpt and carve wood and other suitable materials. It’s a hands-on way to explore shapes and textures, express your imagination and turn an idea into something you can hold.

Benefits of Power Carving in Education

  • An instructor guiding a student as they carve a design into wood with a rotary tool

    Hands-On Learning

Build creativity, problem-solving and fine motor skills through the hands-on experience of shaping a project.

  • Participants gathered around an instructor for a woodcarving workshop at Maker’s Central

    Connect Ideas Across Subjects

Bring lessons together through a creative project. Power carving can connect different subjects and help learners see ideas from a new perspective.
