Described by both its makers and users as glorious, the ultra-soft yet incredibly durable American Bison work apron is a true piece of beauty. Made in the USA, these aprons range from a warm sand, almost khaki appearance to a slightly more buttery color... imagine the sawdust under your table after cutting a piece of yellow pine.
Some are lighter, some are darker, some feature the hide's original brand, and most will have at least a few scars due to their wild origin. They're still amazing... we just want to be sure you know what you're getting. No matter what battle scars they have or color variation there is, one thing is for sure. This work apron is the last one you'll ever own.
The straps come in two variants: X-Back and Y-Back. The X-Back has an incredibly comfortable fit with an adjustable 1" harness-style straps with quick-release. The Y-Back combines the comfort of the harness style straps with a sturdy, adjustable belt for a perfect, secure fit.
CBA-28X - 28" Length | X-Back
CBA-28Y - 28" Length | Y-Back
CBA-30X - 30" Length | X-Back
CBA-30Y - 30" Length | Y-Back
We're carrying two size variations: 28" and 30". Though this measurement refers specifically to the length of the main panel from top to bottom, the patterns used are based on a typical person's proportions.
How they fit...
To start, you will find that the work aprons are far more streamlined than your typical muu-muu, one-size-fits-no-one style. A well-fit Calavera apron will cover the area between the top of your chest and 3-4 inches above your knees, providing protection from sawdust, wood chips, finishes and other assorted workshop mess while enabling full range of movement and easy access to pants pockets.
- The 28" is a pretty good fit for just about anyone 5'8 and below
- The 30" is a solid choice for those between 5'8" and 6'2 (most popular by a mile)
This leather starts out extremely soft, with an immediate broken-in feel and fit. Please be aware that oil-finished leather has the potential to stain light colored clothing due to it's varying, but high content of, well... oil.
A note on caring for your work apron:
In the shop, all work aprons are finished with Dr. Jackson's Conditioning Cream. A modest application will do good things to worn or dry areas. For hotter, dryer regions (or applications), we recommend modest doses of Fiebing's Aussie Leather Conditioner with Beeswax. Don't apply too much or it'll get a little sticky.
